Bottallo e Gennari, Advogados is glad to announce that from September onwards the renowned Professor Guido Soares is at its counsel. Read below the summary of his resumé.

 

Prof. Guido Fernando Silva Soares, born São Carlos, SP, Brazil, July 1, 1937.

 

Admitted to Bar Section of São Paulo in 1970.

 

Education: University of São Paulo Law School (LL.B., 1960). Master Degree in Comparative Law, MCL, University of Illinois Law School, USA, 1973. Ph.D. Degree in Political Science (International Relations), Catholic University Law School of São Paulo, Brazil, 1974, with the thesis: "Contribution to the Study of the Brazilian Nuclear Policy". Post-Doctoral Degree in International Law, University of São Paulo Law School, Brazil, 1980, with the thesis: "Of the Immunities of Jurisdiction and of Collection".

 

Occupation: Diplomat since 1963. Present Vice-Dean of University of São Paulo Law School. Representative of same university at the Commission of the Course of International Relations at University of São Paulo. Full Professor, International Public Law and International Environmental Law at University of São Paulo Law School, since 1995, with the thesis: "The Responsibilities in the Environmental International Law". Responsible at the University of São Paulo Law School for the courses of International Private Law, International Trade Law, International Commerce Arbitration and International Organizations. Professor at the post graduate course of International Law on Environment. Coordinator of Post-graduation course in Arbitration at Ibmec Law School. Member of the List of Arbiters and the List of Experts indicated by the Government of Brazil, under the Brasilia Protocol for the Resolution of Disputes, in the context of MERCOSUR, since 1994; Member of the List of Experts indicated by the Government of Brazil to the World Trade Organization, WTO, in Geneva; Member of the List of Arbiters by indication of the Government of Brazil, to the Permanent Court of Arbitration of the Hague; President of the Consultive Council of the Arbitral Tribunal of Commerce of São Paulo (since July 6, 2001); Member of the List of Arbiters of the Arbitration Commission of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Argentina, since 1998; One of the founders of the Arbitration Commission of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada, São Paulo, Brazil, 1972 and its President, from 1980 to 1993; Arbiter indicated by the ICC Court of Arbitration, on behalf of the Government of an African Country, in an 'ad hoc' arbitration with siege in Paris.

 

He is a counselor for opinions and the author of several books and articles at specialized publications.
